Printing only what you want

Does anyone else out there miss the “Print Window” settings in AutoCAD? You know, that option in the print dialog that allows you to select a rectangular area of the screen to print and everything else outside of that is ignored completely. Revit currently doesn’t have that exact function. I have been able to find something close however.

If you reduce the window size so you only see the part of the drawing you want to see and use the “Visible portion of current window” along with the “Fit to page” settings. Then only the area you see will be printed. Unfortunately, it won’t be printed at a proper scale. While you can have some control by creating custom page size. Guessing the page size to get a proper scale is impossible.

Hopefully, Autodesk will start applying what they learned in AutoCAD to Revit in future releases.
